Info
The Little Free Pantry is a lot like the Little Free Library, only this project was created to address immediate & local food insecurity. Some families cannot afford enough food in between paychecks, while others have much that they are not going to eat, think they are going to throw away, or simply bought by accident. Extra food that might be thrown away has another life only a short drive (or walk!) away. You can help people with your extra food!

What does it look like?
There are many very creative designs, although most look like wooden boxes full of shelves resting atop posts. A lot do not even have doors. Ours, however, was made using a clever & simple design. It has been made using weather resistant, rot-resistant semi-flexible composite wood, with interior bracing that helps it stand strong. It has a horizontal roof, angled slightly for snowfall or rainfall, and a lip on the front & sides to protect from blemishes. The door is made of resilient & flexible plexiglass with a frame of the aforementioned composite wood to give it a solid, strong feel. All exterior screws are caulked & painted over to prevent water damage, and to accentuate the seamless design. Due to all of its durability features, it should be able to stand up to even the severest of New England weather.
